Communication Plan

• We need to give an update to the community on the progress of the merger discussion and the work of the planning groups
  • Will draft a communique after OR2025 to be sent out after OR2025 via the Google Community Group
  • We can use other communication channels, such as the newsletter, the news section of the website, Holger's coffee hour
• Communication needs to be high level and needs to stress that this is still an investigation; nothing has been decided yet
• Sharing merger updates at OR2025
  • People will likely aske questions about the merger at the upcoming OR2025 conference
  • Maureen will briefly touch on the merger during the Showdown presentation
  • Tim and Holger have included slides in their presentations that give updates on the merger
  • Holger will create a form that people can fill out during OR2025 and after if they have questions about the merger; OR2025 attendees were encouraged to point to this form if asked about the merger; presenters will include this form in their presentations
• Briefly discussed ways to get feedback from the community
  • Do we want to make a survey to gather input from the community regarding uses and use cases of DSpace and DSpace-CRIS?
  • As an example, institutions that do not use entities may be intimidated by enabling them by default
  • What are the consequences (for the community, for users, from the user perspective) of a merged DSpace and DSpace-CRIS?
