Expect to learn more about DSpace 7 UI highlights at OR2017. An A half-day workshop aimed at familiarizing developers with the DSpace 7 Angular UI will be presented on June 27, providing the latest status of the workupdates, next steps, and information about how to contribute. There's still time to to propose lightning talks and breakout sessions for the North American DSpace User Meeting hosted by Georgetown University Library Aug 22-23. More information here.

The DSpace Anwendertreffen 2017 (formally known as German DSpace User Group Meeting) will take place at Stuttgart University Library on September 21, 2017 hosted by Stuttgart University Library, Fraunhofer IRB and The Library Code.  This informal information exchange will be organized in "Round table" discussion focused on specific topics. The deadline for topic proposals is June 21. More information here.

FedoraSpeaking of Fedora 4

A full-day workshop, Using and Extending Fedora, will be offered at OR2017 on June 27. Using pre-configured virtual machines, participants will learn how to create and manage content in Fedora in accordance with linked data best practices, how to search and run SPARQL queries against content in Fedora using the included Solr index and triplestore, and how to install and interact with API-X extensions. Find out what will be covered in the Fedora and Samvera (formerly Hydra) Camp curriculum–now availableThe Camp will be held at Oxford University, Sept 4 - 8, 2017. Registration is available here with an early bird discount until July 10.  The camp will be hosted by Oxford University Oxford, UK and is supported by Jisc.

Registration is also available for Fedora Camp Texas, co-hosted by Texas Digital Library and the University of Texas Libraries, Austin, October 16-18, 2017.  Local accommodations are available at a reduced rate–early bird discounts until Aug. 14.

VIVO Project Director Mike Conlon who is also a Member of the DuraSpace Board of Directors and an Emeritus Faculty member of the University of Florida, is the author of a new monthly column aimed at providing in-depth information on topics related to VIVO.
