Additional Guidance

The PCC Linked Data Advisory Committee (LDAC) has developed these preliminary criteria for selecting vocabularies to use URIs in our cataloging practices:

      • Agency over datasets
      • Usefulness of the data
      • How connected to other datasets
      • Ease of consumption of data
      • Reliability of the dataset infrastructure
      • Sustainability of the dataset
      • Ease of querying the dataset
      • Tooling for re-con and ingest
      • Ease/support for QA/cleanup

These criteria are somewhat subjective and will require more experience with particular datasets to know what is actually cause for disqualification. Perhaps sooner we’ll be able to see which datasets we want to prioritize, rather than what we object to having in the data.  This will be an area that we will learn more about through putting these principles into practice during the Pilot.
