- Enhance preexisting documentation for DSpace by contributing images, corrections and editorial review in the live documentation
- Brief Description: The DSpace documentation takes the form of a wiki site that is exported to a PDF manual for each release of the software. Whilst the documentation is reasonably complete, it lacks a lot of images, and is often out of date in sections. This task (of which there will be multiple variations) will require you to choose one section of the manual, and contribute images, check for correctness and completeness, and fix any errors you find.

- Write a suite of junit tests to test a core API class
- Brief Description: The core DSpace API comes with some junit tests that allow the code to be tested automatically. There are a lot of gaps in the testing coverage, and we need to fill these. This task will be involve being assigned a class that requires testing, and writing some junit tests for each method.

Training
- Record brief DSpace tutorial videos in your (non-English) native language
- Brief Description: Most DSpace training materials are currently in English. Recording some simple demonstrations and tutorials of DSpace installation/administration/configuration tasks with audio (can be voiceover) in your native language will help lower the barrier to entry for non-English-speakers who want to see some demonstrations.

- Notes: We should split this into multiple tasks by choosing a selection of languages, eg: Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, so that a student can just select the task that suits them, and still leave other training video tasks for other students. Community members who can help review audio should add their names as contacts and specify the language
Translation
- Translate DSpace into your own native language
- Brief Description: DSpace is fully 'internationalized' and supports language packs to enable DSpace user interfaces to be shown in different languages. DSpace has already been translated into several languages, but if you natively speak a different language and can translate from one of the current languages, then you can select this task to perform the translation.
- Skills: Translation, written English, a hig high level of competency in another language
- Estimated duration: 10 hours per interface (XMLUI or JSPUI). One language for one interface counts as a single task. Translating the software for both user interfaces would count as two tasks.
