- Would like to hear from Islandora and Hydra
- Fedora 4 Beta 3 release
- was announced recently and has been disseminated (e-mail, github, wiki, etc.)
- fixed a bug found by the community immediately after Beta 2 release.
- Betsy Coleman from University of New Hampshire
- Got a 3-year IMLS grant to integrate maps (open geoportal) with Fedora (developing a toolkit)
- Will be stored on file system and accessed via federation
- Looking for guidance in setting that up
- Unknown User (escowles@ucsd.edu) volunteered
- Andrew Woods asked about writes/updates to filesystem objects
- Michael Durbin suggested possible model of using fedora 4 for metadata and federation for large file storage.
- Andrew Woods reiterated that the basic setup is well document on the wiki.
- Evaluating Hydra vs Islandora for institutional repository
- Map files are roughtly 350-500MB in testing but may be much bigger.
- Federation is needed because the files need to be accessed directly by open geo portal (not through a fedora API)
- Got a 3-year IMLS grant to integrate maps (open geoportal) with Fedora (developing a toolkit)
- Metrics Update
- a metrics library has been in fedora 4 code base since the early days, but hasn't really be utilized
- recently there is some more interest in metrics around the usage of the repository, so some work in recent sprints to revive that effort have been undertaken
- Jared Whiklo has been doing a basic test with graphite and Fedora 4.
- a little finicky right now, but he's working to ensure that everything that should be captured is.
- graphite configuration is a little more complex
- Andrew Woods asked that configuration documentation and such should be put on the wiki and others should test and provide feedback about what should be collected and displayed
