| Scott Prater | University of Wisconsin | Digital Library Architect | I am the Digital Library Architect for the University of Wisconsin General Library System, responsible for managing and developing our repository and digital preservation ecosystem. I have been involved with the Fedora community as a "power user" and advocate since 2005, including stints as a committer for the 3.x versions, a documentation writer, a tester for releases, and an early contributor to the Fedora 4 and OCFL efforts. Most recently, I have served on the Advisory Committee for the IMLS-funded "Designing a Migration Path" grant project for mapping out strategies to encourage and support the user community move to Fedora 6 and beyond. My ambition as a leadership member would be to help ensure that the community (actual and potential) has the tools, resources, and most importantly, confidence it needs to deploy and manage Fedora to meet memory institution digital curation and preservation goals now and in the future. |
| Este Pope | Amherst College | Head of Digital Programs | As head of the digital programs department at Amherst College, I’m responsible for the strategic direction of library digital collections. While my experience with Fedora began in 2017 when I arrived at Amherst and began supervising the developer and committer contributions of our institution to the Fedora project, my admiration for Fedora goes back to the early 2000’s when I watched the project develop from afar as a digital library systems analyst. I’ve had the opportunity to serve on Fedora Leaders and Steering for the past three years. I’m excited by the possibility to continue contributing to the Fedora community as a member of the leadership team. I value the longevity, flexibility, and care that I see in the work of maintaining Fedora software and in the community that guides this work. I was glad to be part of the Advisory Board for the IMLS-funded “Designing a migration path” planning grant for Fedora, and look forward to seeing the future of Fedora 6. Contributing time to Fedora leaders is important to me as a way to connect with peers from all types of institutions, and because I think it is essential to have academy-driven options for library digital infrastructure. |
